Working from her studio which overlooks her garden, Helen Hallows captures the animals and nature around her in her unique style.
I’m guided by nature and inspired by the changes from day to day and season to season. My studio looks out onto my garden so my ‘commute’ to work takes me past the tree house and chicken coop. From my studio I can watch the birds, and the path in front of it is a neighbourhood crossing point for cats and the occasional fox. Beyond my domestic environment I seek out patchwork hills. I look for stories in the landscape, in my journey home, in a family of trees. My inspirations are sketched and then in the studio I recreate them using paint, ink, found and created papers and stitch.
