Sycamore Gap Giclee print from original monotype by Rebecca Vincent
ABOUT THIS ARTWORK STATEMENT
This eye-catching view on Hadrian's Wall is famous in the North of England. It's often know as Robin Hood's Tree after Kevin Costner paid it a visit! In front of the wall is a rough hillside but I used this space for colour, texture and some gestural work that focuses your attention on the lone tree. The original for this is a monotype, a unique printed painting. I use rollers and dabbers to spread out the ink then make marks with a cloth and other tools. I incorporate textured materials by impressing inked up wallpaper and fabric.
