Originally from Newcastle upon Tyne and now based in East London, Alice’s work explores British traditions, folklore, history and superstitions with a distinctive sense of humour and decorative detail. Her illustrations and screen prints have been commissioned by clients including the V&A Museum, Fortnum & Mason, The Folio Society and Selvedge Magazine.

The Country Fair designs grew from Alice’s visits to agricultural shows around the country, where she found inspiration in the many stories unfolding across showgrounds, judging tents and exhibition halls. “The horticultural tents have a particular aesthetic appeal, with their organised rows of vegetables and flowers. I love how each competitor has their own little flourish as to how they choose to present their peas on a plate.”

from prize-winning blooms and carefully arranged vegetables to rosettes, livestock and local crafts, the collection captures the charm, character and gentle eccentricity of these much-loved events.
