Originally training as a Montessori Teacher, followed by a BA with the Open University, Cathy has
returned to her former interests in the practical arts. Since joining the Double Elephant Print
Workshop in Exeter in 2009 she has developed her printmaking practice and currently focusses on
relief print. She predominately produces limited edition prints in lino using both the reduction and
multi-block technique. The images in her linocuts employ the use of strong line and bold shapes to
produce simple, semi abstract and figurative representations. She finds the process of printmaking
engaging and dynamic; where a simple design can be cut into a relief plate and printed to produce
a graphic style image that is quite distinct in its form.
She takes her inspiration from both the natural and urban landscape and greatly admires the work
of artists such as Robert Tavener,Bawden, Peter Green and the Grosvenor School of Art
