Mychael Barratt was born in Toronto, Canada and has been living and working in the UK since 1984. He is a painter and printmaker whose detailed work is often as narrative as it is visual and was the commissioned artist for the Globe Theatre throughout Mark Rylance’s reign as Artistic Director. His book Intaglio Printmaking was published by A & C Black in 2008 and in 2011 he was commissioned by the law firm T V Edwards to paint a large-scale, external mural on the side of their offices at 33 Mile End Road, London E1 near the site of the 2012 Olympics.
He was made a Fellow of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers in 2002 and at the AGM in 2013 was elected its President (PRE).
