ERIC RAVILIOUS Two Figures in a Boat|1941

“Two Figures in a Boat” is a watercolour and pencil artwork created by Eric Ravilious in 1941. The painting depicts two figures, a man and a woman, in a boat. The scene is set on a waterway, which leads the viewer’s eye to the central picture. On either side of the bank, pines and conifers grow, and above, the blue of an English sky can be seen. This artwork is a classic example of Ravilious’s style, evoking a sense of Englishness tinged with Modernism
