High Sunderland By Kate Lycett

High Sunderland Hall stood on the hills above the Shibden Valley, Halifax. It dates back to the 17th century and featured gargoyles, twisted stone figures, green men and griffins. It is thought to have been the inspiration for the house of Wuthering Heights, Emily Bronte having taught in a school near by. High Sunderland was demolished in 1951.
